Life During COVID-19
Spring 2020. We’ve officially entered a state of lockdown in the United States, and the remainder of my undergrad was suddenly forced to be conducted online. As such, the entire landscape of my life, and that of everyone else, shifted for the foreseeable future. During this turbulent time, I was tasked with making a documentary about a topic, any topic, that resonated with me. I initially planned to make a student doc about the now permanently closed Mission Tiki Drive-In Theater, which unfortunately couldn’t move forward due to the pandemic. Instead of admitting defeat, I decided to turn my lens towards the two strongest people I know: my parents. The following documentary captures their personal struggles and remedies for the invariable stress that was caused by COVID-19.
Written, directed, edited and produced by Josiah Manzanares.
